Hawks will be hosting Lord Stanley's cup in 6 games

Well, Chicago will have a championship team on wednesday june 8th. Is there anyone not picking them to win this series?? Here are the reasons they will win:

1. Marian Hossa isnt this bad. Hossa has 2 goals. That is good enough to rank 9th on the hawks in the playoffs. Yes, Hossa has 9 assists but the hawks didnt pay him ubber money to rack up assists. Besides his overtime winner (which was obviously was huge), name me another play he has collected a point on? He has to show this series. He is here to score goals. He has 51 shots which is good for 2nd on the team in the playoffs. The goals will go in and he will a force finally in this series.

2. Who hasnt the hawks defense stopped? Sedin twins = non factor. Sharks top line that was the #1 line for the gold winning team canada had to be split up best 2 of the 3 forwards were non-factors. The top forwards of the flyers will be seeing keith and seabrook a whole lot which means the goal light wont be going off for the flyers.

3. 1-2-3-4 score. Yes, the matchup of byfuglien vs. pronger will be a great battle in front. Maybe pronger can stop the hawks 1st line of toews-kane-buff. But, the flyers only really go 4 deep on defense. Im assuming that pronger and his partner will be out there when the hawks 1st line is on the ice and the second pair of flyers dmen will be out there when hossa-sharp-brower step on the ice. Even if the flyers vaunted defense can stop those 2 lines, the hawks will come out on top. The hawks 3rd line of bolland-versteeg-ladd and their 4th line of eager-burish-madden have scored all season and the flyers just simply dont have enough depth on defense to stop all 4 hawks lines. I would look for big scoring from the 3rd and 4th lines in this series. Ane with that I'm picking Kris Versteeg as the Hawks MVP of this series. Not only will he do a great job with the rest of his linemates containing the Flyers' top offensive line but he will have 6+ pts.

Hawks Prediction

All the experts seem to think that this playoff series will be a hard and long fought battle between the hawks and the predators. The hawks took the season series 4-2 but the teams havent played since december so im not sure how much you can tell from that. The predators are a veteran team that plays great defense and doesnt score much. They seem to play the ultimate team game and get the most out of their players but dont really have a whole lot of individual talent. This can be seen in the fact that their special teams, penalty kill and power play, ranks them atleast 24 in the league or below. So, they are a good team when they can play with all their parts. I see the hawks speed and skill causing them problems and getting them to commit penalties and if the hawks can capitalize, it will be a quick series. I hate to say it but i think the hawks know they can turn it on when they want and they will similar to their performances in the olympics. Expect to see the puck in Kane's hands more and i think Kane, Toews, and Brower will be back on the same line before the end of the series.

Hawks in 5.

Chicago's First Place Team

Yep, Chicago does have a first place team and they are called the Blackhawks. They are actually tied for the 2nd most points in the NHL. Tonight, the hawks will take on the San Jose Sharks, who are leading the NHL in points. Also, the hawks big free agent signing, Marian Hossa will make his season debut. The hawks will team Hossa with Toews and Kane to form what some people will be a SUPER line and score a million goals. I am excited to see Hossa play and from the sound of it, Kane & Toews are jumping out their skates to be on the ice with him. His biggest impact will hopefully be on the power play where until the hawks scored 4 out of their last 5 on the power play, they were ranked 18th in the league. The hawks are the 2nd best goal differential in the league (goals for avg - goals against avg) and they are going to add a 40 goal scorer. Ill be watching tonight and for any chicago sports fans who are hoping for a championship team, they should be watching tonight and from now on.

Hawks Post

I admit that I'm a newbie as a hockey fan. Unfortunately, until the last 2 seasons the only way to see hawks games was in person in the UC. However, I know a hot topic amongst hawks fans this season is who is tending the net with Khabibulin gone. From what i have seen and heard, the 33 yr old Huet (who is too quick to drop down in the butterfly and leave the top shelf open) is not the answer to the hawks question in the net. Now, i dont completely understand the NHL salary cap but i know Huet is a huge hit against the Hawks. Wouldn't it be a good move for the Hawks to waive Huet, see if anyone claims him (i think then the claiming team would assume his huge contract as in baseball), and if he clears waivers send him down to see if he work his way back to #1 goaltender? This move would give the Hawks cap space and give the hawks the chance to see what Niemi & Crawford can offer them. If the hawks continue as they have been doing, all they really need is a serviceable goaltender as they are allowing the 5th fewest shots on goal in the NHL. It seems to me that Quenneville doesnt have faith in Huet anyway and he is just eating up a (very expensive) roster spot. The possibility of losing(getting rid of) Huet is really no risk at all.
