Bears sign Collins
The bears yesterday signed 38 year old Todd Collins to a 1 year contract and gave him a $100,000 signing bonus. I cant really figure out what this signing means. I know the bears really like Caleb Hanie and he will for sure be on the roster. Does this mean that they think they need Todd Collins as a #3 quarterback throughout the year? Or is he an insurance policy if Hanie is unable to be healthy by week 1? I think Collins, if he makes the regular season roster, will be on it for no more than 4 weeks depending on injuries. Either way, if we see Collins playing in the regular season for the bears the season is lost so it probably doesnt matter.
